Since 2010, James “Jim” Ahern has served as managing partner and head of capital markets at Laidlaw & Company in New York City. Outside of his endeavors with Laidlaw, James “Jimmy” Ahern enjoys boating, fishing, playing golf, and supporting Boston-area sports teams such as the Red Sox.
The Boston Red Sox have agreed to terms with Tyler Thornburg, a right-handed relief pitcher entering his seventh season in the majors. Although the Red Sox organization has not officially released the terms of the deal, the one-year, non-guaranteed contract is reportedly worth $2.05 million.
Selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2010 Amateur Draft, Thornburg played college ball at Charleston Southern University in South Carolina. In five seasons with Milwaukee, he appeared in 144 games and posted a 2.87 ERA.
The Red Sox acquired Thornburg from Milwaukee in December 2016, but he missed the entire 2017 season due to a right shoulder impingement. If he can remain healthy, the 29-year-old could rack up the innings for Boston during the 2018 season.
