An alumnus of Massachusetts college preparatory school Northfield Mount Hermon, James "Jimmy" Ahern is an investment banker who raises early stage private capital for public and private companies in the healthcare vertical through his role as head of capital markets for Laidlaw & Company. When he isn't focused on his professional responsibilities with Laidlaw, James "Jim" Ahern enjoys following his favorite National Basketball Association (NBA) team, the Boston Celtics.
The Celtics are already first in the NBA's Eastern Conference with a win-loss record of 38-15 as of February 3, but that hasn't stopped the team's management from trying to improve its roster heading into the playoffs. On February 2, the Celtics agreed to a one-year, $5 million contract with free agent center Greg Monroe, whose contract was bought out by the Phoenix Suns the previous day. The New Orleans Pelicans were also interested in Monroe's services, but could only offer $2.2 million for the remainder of the season.
